What a combo. An SS hot dog from Bæjarins bestu and some milk.
Bæjarins bestu “The Towns Best” in Reykjavík. A mini documentary about the hot dog stand, favored by locals and considered a cult destination by tourists.
Best hot dog in the world
Like many international news media before it the Huffington Post has announced that the hot dogs from Bæjarins bestu (E. The Towns Best), in the Reykjavík harbour, are the best in the world. This tiny building has served every single Icelander at some point, all the tourists that can find it and even people like Bill Clinton (he had a heart attack a few days later).
If you don’t like the Huffington Post way of just nodding until you get a hot dog, you can say:
Góðan daginn. (Good day)
Eina með öllu og kók. (One with everything and a Coke)
Pay the 280 ISK for the hot dog and 170 for the Coke.
Takk fyrir. (Thank you)
Mmmmmm
I’ve never quite understood why tourist always like our hotdogs so much but when you go to Reykjavík check out Bæjarins bestu hot dog stand down town.
Other random things I like: Pylsur!
(Icelandic hot dogs. Mustard, ramoulade, and french onions. The mustard looks like peanut butter in this particular picture, though I never encountered any like this.)
