Icelandic revolution in Spain
Spanish protesters wave Icelandic flags and shout on the streets “Todos somos Islandia” (We are all Iceland). They even placed an Icelandic flag on the center of Plaza Espanha and renamed it Plaza Islandia. The protests are directed towards Spain’s economic policy and issues similar to those that have been strongly protested in Iceland over the past couple of years. Even if the Spanish protesters seem to have a slightly glorified view of the success of the Icelandic protests, it is very inspiring to see the Icelandic flag on the streets of Spain in this way. A group which seems to be advocating this Icelandic connection has set up a website with a pdf flag for people to print and urges people to go out into the streets with Icelandic flags, banging pots and pans. Just as in the Icelandic protests. Now they just need to get a volcano going.
