Highway 1 or the Ring Road is the 1.339 kilometers of highway that circle Iceland along the coast linking nearly every Icelandic town together. The most typical one or two week holiday includes one circle along the ring road, getting a pretty good sampler of Iceland. Mind you it is only a sampler and there is plenty you will miss including the beautiful Vestfirðir (en Westfjords), the large peninsula in the northwest corner of Iceland.
