Island of the stranded preschoolers
This is the small island of Grótta. It is right on the very tip of Seltjarnarnes, a neighboring town of Reykjavík (right here to be precise). The birdlife in Grótta is great and I would recommend a visit. Most of the time you can walk out into the island along the sandy beach (flooded in this photo). Tides are predictable and if I remember correctly, there is a tidal chart by the path, so there is no reason to get stranded. Still there’s always somebody getting stranded out there, usually classes of preschoolers.

Oh and here’s the same place, bathed in northern lights. There’s also an interesting shed over there, which I once broke into (don’t tell).
