Great video of a helicopter flight up close and personal with the Eyjafjallajökull eruption last spring.

To think I’ve calmly skied across the formerly flat snow and ice of this glacier is a bit mind boggling. Now most of there is a huge hole in the middle of the glacier where this crater has melted its way through. At the bottom of the crater resides boiling lake. Most of the glacier is covered in a layer of up to 30 meters of black ash, so no skiing anytime soon.
