Sketches of Greenland - Short documentary

Today we make a quick break from Iceland and visit Iceland’s enormous, cold neighbor, Greenland. There are only a few hundred kilometers between Iceland and Greenland and on a good day it is possible to see the mountains of Greenland from one mountain top in Vestfirðir in northwest Iceland.

Still we Icelanders know surprisingly little about these neighbors of ours. This video Sketches of Greenland by Jeoroen Toirkens gives some insight into the life of the Greenlanders. Several Greenlanders from the ages of 49 to 84 describe occurs in photos taken by Dutch anthropologist Gerti Nooter in the 60s and 70s.

Enjoy.
