Does Iceland automatically use transfer money rates when using a credit/debit card? Lets say a meal cost 1200ISK, would I be charged its American dollar equal $10.28(as of now) or would there be a great precharge? Thanks!
The actual exchange rate you get is decided by your credit card company. There can be a slight difference between this exchange rate and the official exchange rate. On the 31.12.2010 the Central bank quotes 115,05 ISK/USD but Visa quotes 118,05.
So the price of that sheep’s tongue might vary a few cents depending on how you are paying.
hello, someone countries dont take credit cards, does iceland? like in resturants and shops?
Iceland accepts credit cards in more places than I’ve seen anywhere else. If you find a bum downtown asking for drinking money, chances are he will accept all major credit cards.
Icelanders rarely use cash.
